Sigma Lambda Gamma is a sisterhood whose focus continues on academics. We don't lose sight of the main reason we are all enrolled in college, which is to earn an academic degree. Our sisters encourage each other in the good and the bad and continue to support one another throughout our educational experience and post graduate degrees.
Our sisters love to help the community. Through the past semesters we have volunteered at cultural events such as Voice of The Voiceless and making altars for the Day of the Dead. We enjoy helping at local events such as Take Back the Night and as well as national events like recruiting people to register to vote through VotoLatino. Our sisters have also shown their school spirit by being part of UTEPs campus wide volunteer day Project Move. If helping the community is something you love as well, let us know! Maybe being a Gamma is just for you!
Sigma Lambda Gamma believes that "Culture is Pride, Pride is Success." Though we are a Latina based sorority, we embrace women of all cultures and respect all cultural backgrounds. In other words, being culturally diverse is an important aspect of our sorority, but it is not one that defines us.
As sisters of Sigma Lambda Gamma we display good sound moral judgment at all times. We are considerate and kind to all poeple, giving people the same respect we would like to be given. As a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma we always represent sisterhood, remembering individual actions reflect on the sorority as a whole.
As sisters, we have the opportunity to be open to all types of positive social interactions. Engaging in social interaction helps us not only to understand others but ourselves as well. Although we all have our differences, we must be able to accept and be open-minded towards the actions of others. Through social events and workshops, we are able to expand our networking and interact with various organizations.
